General Questions

What is Maritime Path Consulting?+
Maritime Path Consulting LLC is a Florida-based maritime education consulting firm that provides independent, vendor-neutral guidance to maritime professionals, shipping companies, and maritime academies. We help clients navigate certification pathways, training strategies, and institutional partnerships — with no affiliation to any training provider.
Are you a training institution? Do you issue certificates?+
No. We are purely a consulting firm. We do not deliver training courses, issue certificates of competency, or hold any maritime training approval. We advise and guide — the actual training is carried out by the accredited institutions we recommend.
What makes you different from a manning agency or training provider?+
Manning agencies and training providers have a commercial interest in placing you with specific partners. We have no such interest — we receive no commissions or referral fees from any institution. Our only obligation is to give you the most accurate, relevant, and independent advice for your specific situation.
What languages do you work in?+
We provide consulting services in English, French, and Arabic. This allows us to serve maritime professionals across North and West Africa, and other French or Arabic-speaking maritime communities worldwide.
Where are you based?+
Maritime Path Consulting LLC is registered in Florida, United States (7901 4th St N, STE 300, St. Petersburg, FL 33702). We serve clients globally — all consulting is conducted remotely via video call, email, and WhatsApp.
Career

Career Consulting

I don't know what certifications I need — can you help?+
Absolutely. This is one of the most common reasons people come to us. We start with a full audit of your existing certificates, sea service, and career goals — then map out exactly what you need, in what order, and at what cost to reach your target position.
Can you help with STCW revalidation?+
Yes. STCW revalidation planning is one of our most common professional consulting requests. We review your certificates, sea service records, and training history to determine the most efficient revalidation path — whether through refresher courses, approved sea service, or a combination of both.
I hold a national certificate — can I get international recognition?+
Yes, in many cases. We can advise on flag state endorsement pathways for your specific certificate — identifying which flag states recognize your administration, what additional training may be required, and the most efficient route to international recognition.
I want to move from sea to shore — can you guide this transition?+
Yes. We offer specific consulting for officers transitioning to shore-based roles: marine surveying, port state control officer, maritime administration, fleet management, or maritime law. We map out the required qualifications, recommended institutions, and realistic timelines for each path.
How long does a career consulting session last?+
Typically 60–90 minutes via video call. You receive a written roadmap within 5 business days following the session. A free 30-minute discovery call precedes every paid engagement.
Corporate

Corporate Advisory

What is a Training Needs Analysis (TNA)?+
A TNA is a systematic assessment of the gap between the training your crew currently has and what they need — for their roles, your fleet type, and applicable regulations. We review all crew certificates, flag state requirements, and operational needs to produce a prioritized training plan with clear costs and timelines.
Can you help us prepare for a Port State Control inspection?+
Yes. We conduct a full pre-PSC documentation review — checking crew certificates against flag state requirements and identifying any deficiencies before inspectors do. We then help you remediate any gaps before the inspection date.
Do you cover Maritime Cybersecurity compliance?+
Yes. Following IMO Resolution MSC-FAL.1/Circ.3, cybersecurity must be incorporated into Safety Management Systems. We advise companies on the training requirements, approved providers, and implementation strategy for MSC cybersecurity compliance.
What size companies do you work with?+
We work with organizations of all sizes — from small manning agencies with 20–30 seafarers to larger shipping operators. Our approach is tailored to each organization's specific situation, budget, and compliance requirements.
Institutions

Institutional Partnerships

We are a European maritime academy — can you help us find students from Africa?+
Yes. This is one of our core institutional services. We build qualified student referral pipelines from Africa and Southeast Asia to your institution — sourcing candidates who meet your entry requirements, facilitating application processes, and managing the relationship on your behalf.
What does an MOU facilitation involve?+
We identify suitable counterpart organizations (shipping companies, manning agencies, port authorities) for your institution, facilitate introductory meetings, help structure the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding, and support the negotiation process. We act as a neutral facilitator in the interest of both parties.
How quickly can you produce first results?+
For partnership retainers, we typically deliver a market mapping report within the first 30 days, followed by first introductions within 60 days. Concrete partnership agreements vary depending on complexity — typically 60–120 days from first meeting to signed MOU.
Markets

Africa & Southeast Asia

Do you work with clients outside Africa and Southeast Asia?+
Yes. While Africa and Southeast Asia are our primary focus markets, we serve maritime professionals and organizations globally. Our institutional partnership service is particularly relevant for European and American institutions looking to expand into these markets.
I'm a Nigerian seafarer — can you help me get my STCW recognized internationally?+
Yes. We have specific experience advising Nigerian seafarers on NIMASA certification requirements and international flag state endorsement pathways. We can identify which flags recognize Nigerian certificates, what supplementary training may be needed, and the most cost-effective route forward.
I'm a Filipino officer — what specific help can you provide?+
We can assist with MARINA-regulated certification guidance, flag state endorsement for international fleets, upgrade pathway planning (e.g. 3rd Officer to 2nd Officer), specialist certificates (DP, Tanker, GMDSS), and identifying Philippine-based or international institutions that fit your goals and budget.
Assessment

Free Career Assessment

What is the Free Career Assessment?+
Our free career assessment is a short profiling form that takes about 5 minutes to complete. Based on your answers, we produce a personalized 5-point Maritime Career Report delivered to your inbox within 48 hours. It includes a certification gap analysis, recommended training pathways, estimated costs and timelines, and institution recommendations for your region. No payment or commitment required.
Is the assessment really free? What's the catch?+
It is genuinely free. We provide it because we believe in earning trust before asking for a commercial commitment. We do not automatically add you to a mailing list, and there is no obligation to engage our paid services after receiving your report. We also do not receive any payment from institutions based on your report.
How long does it take to receive my report?+
Within 48 business hours of submitting your assessment. We read every submission personally — the report is not automated. If you need a faster response, message us directly on WhatsApp.
