Think in operational terms

A useful cyber review asks what systems support navigation, propulsion, cargo, communications, safety, access control and shore-to-ship workflows, and what happens if a system is unavailable or compromised.

Five practical questions

  1. What critical computer-based systems do we rely on?
  2. Who owns the risk for each system?
  3. What are the credible failure or compromise scenarios?
  4. How are backup, recovery and continuity tested?
  5. How are crew and shore personnel trained to recognize and respond?
